How to create a vinegar rinse for itchy scalp

If you are going crazy from scalp itchies but can’t get your hands on some of our tried-and-true Dread Shampoos or Refresh/Cooling Spray to treat it, there are a few other natural things you can try before resorting to gross-smelling, poison-filled medicated shampoos from the drug store.

A Vinegar Rinse will not only help kill the itch, it removes built-up residue from hair follicles and helps to restore the scalp’s natural pH level, which may also be contributing to the itch.

Caution: Even though this solution is quite diluted, you don’t want to burn an irritated scalp. Discontinue use if increased irritation occurs.

You will need:

  • 2 Tbsp. Vinegar (plain White or Apple Cider recommended)
  • 1 Cup of Water
  • Empty Spritzer Bottle

mix til kløe

Step 1

Mix 2 Tablespoons of Vinegar with 1 Cup of Water and pour into spritzer bottle.

mix til kløe

Step 2

Liberally spritz vinegar solution onto your scalp and let sit for 2-3 minutes.

Rinse through hair with warm water so you don’t smell like a fish-n-chips shop, then make up a shower song to sing loudly about saying bye-bye to itchy scalps!

mix til kløe

If you find the solution too weak, beef up the vinegar a little but be careful, and keep it way out of your eyes. If it’s too strong, add more water to the bottle.

Keep the solution in your shower or nearby to spritz away the itchies up to three times per week.
